The word “Nona” refers to a young lady, something like “Miss” in English. The song seems to be about how bold young ladies have become these days compared to earlier times. This song was composed by Singaporean, Yusof B., in the late 1940s. Singers who performed it initially were Julia, then A. Rahman. Sandra Reemer, a Dutch singer of Indonesian origin, had a big hit with it in the early 1960s and her version is still the most popular. And now meet Liyana Fizi and quartet, our own Malaysian doing her cover of the song. Thank you Zul from Luey Motion Lab for letting me be part of something very special!
